snakes, ladders and sustainable transport
7creative was commissioned to create an educational interactive feature as part of the World Wildlife Fund pavilion at Grand Designs Live, creating awareness around the environmental impacts of different modes of transport.
Children and their parents could play the game together and engage with simple messages which would encourage them to ‘think before you travel’. Landing on the ‘Walk this way’ or ‘Pedal power’ squares gained you the most ground by sending you up the ladders, whilst landing on ‘Plane crazy’ or ‘Drive up your CO2’ would send you back down the smoggy grey snakes.
Instead of dice, a spinning counter was devised using a bicycle tyre for grip and all wood used in the construction was sourced from one of my favourite eco-emporiums, the Wood Recycling Project in Brighton – check out www.woodrecycling.org.uk
